What is Bruxism?
Bruxism is a condition relating to excessive and unnecessary clenching of the jaw and/ or teeth grinding. This can occur during sleep or while the patient is awake. It is estimated that 30% of the population is affected by bruxism but in the more severe cases, it can result in headaches, tired jaw, hypersensitive teeth or unnatural tooth wear which often leads to dental work such as crowns, fillings or even tooth replacement. At GHB Clinic Tox injections are offered to treat bruxism. This treatment seeks to relax muscles in the mouth with the purpose of reducing teeth grinding and/or jaw clenching. It works to weaken the muscles associated with bruxism to restrict the jaw’s ability to clench and grind. This can help to alleviate pressure applied to the teeth, headaches, aching of the jaw, and unnecessary wear on the teeth.
